Rajasthan Royals (RR) will clash against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 8th match of the Indian Premier League 2023 (IPL) at Guwahati's Barsapara Cricket Stadium on Wednesday, March 5. Rajasthan, last season's runner-up, started their campaign with a dominating 72-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad. Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, and Yashasvi Jaiswal scored quick fifties to guide the Royals to a 203/5 total while batting first. Then Yuzvendra Chahal took four wickets, and Trent Boult picked two crucial wickets to restrict the Sunrisers to just 131/8.
Punjab Kings also started their IPL 2023 campaign with a crucial win over Kolkata Knight Riders at home. Sri Lankan batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa smashed 50 off 32 and skipper Shikhar Dhawan scored 40 off 29 as the Kings posted 191/5 on the scoreboard. The Knight Riders were impressive in their chase and scored 146/7, but rain interrupted the game, and they fell seven runs short of the target on the DLS method.
Arshdeep Singh bowled a match-winning spell by taking three wickets for 19, but debutant Sam Curran struggled as he picked one wicket while conceding runs at 12.7 per over. Punjab's bowling will be boosted with star pacer Kagiso Rabada's availability, but they enter this game as the second favorite, having lost four of their last five encounters against Rajasthan Royals.

RR vs PBKS Probable Best Performers
Jos Buttler:
Jos 'the Boss' gave Rajasthan a phenomenal start in the last match. As the pitch is expected to favour the batters in the forthcoming match, he is expected to wreak havoc in the middle once again. He finished as the leading run-scorer of the tournament last year and would be aiming the same in 2023.
Sam Curran:
Sam Curran’s variations with the ball can work wonders against Rajasthan. He was poor with the ball against KKR but the England all-rounder has the capability to bounce back and make a huge impact.
